DESIGN STRATEGY FOR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

As a senior creative strategist adviser with Indigo Slate’s Human experience Innovation Studio, I advised business strategy teams in planning and designing for the Digital Ideation & Envisioning Workshop series for Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is one of the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platforms. Millions of customers—including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies—are using AWS to lower costs, become more agile, and innovate faster. This workshop series became a guide for the Customer-as-a-Partner (CaaP) program to engage industry-leading enterprise customers and independent software vendors (ISV) who want to change their business model to partner with AWS by building repeatable, cutting-edge IP solutions on AWS’s cloud platform and commercialize them through AWS’s distribution channels.

CHALLENGE:

AWS, an IT infrastructure platform, provides cloud computing services through physical data centers spread across various locations. The AWS platform encompasses three cloud computing areas which are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and software as a Service (SaaS). The AWS offers cloud services to the organizations with pay-as-you-go options, thus eliminating the cost of infrastructure development and maintenance on the company’s premises. Cloud Adoption is a strategic move by organizations for reducing cost, mitigating risk and achieving scalability of data base capabilities. The success of adoption yields insight into the maturity of best practices and enterprise-ready cloud services availability. It also comes with its challenges. As a design strategist I help accelerate this transformation for AWS’s industry partners by identifying and designing strategic road maps to provide a better individualized cloud adoption experience.


SOLUTION:

The overall strategy and design of the envisioning workshops I designed for AWS and their clients focused on a co- creation process to support their clients digital transformation journey. The workshop series were designed with the goal of orienting the customers to ISV, The Product Modernization Program benefits and processes, Envisioning what “The Art of Possible” for ISV’s product-led transformation future state would look like. The series at the end captured ISV’s business ambitions, goals, vision and product strategy to set the context of the next phase of co-creation. The brainstorm exercises utilized strategically designed templates that led to structured discussion sessions resulting with the core goal of identifying the opportunities and transforming the selected products or IPs to launch in the Market. These workshops focused on creating a business rationale and roadmap to define the outcomes and plan the journey for AWS partners. The end result of these activities were then compiled into workshop reports that summarized the overall vision, the opportunity, the business case and the product transformation roadmaps for AWS.

IMPACT:

The comprehensive business and partnership planning with a human-centered approach workshop series:

  • Captured opportunities and provided context for ISVs to engage with AWS effectively

  • Enabled customers to have a view of opportunities with suggested value propositions

  • Enabled customers to align in assumed GTM approaches

  • Enabled customer teams to define their key activities, and GAP analysis with an action plan

  • Define tasks, responsibilities and milestones for each organization
